IN THE NEWS - A Global Plastics Treaty to "turn off the tap" has gained global support with over 1000 civil society groups, 450 scientists,1 million individiuals and numerous governments calling on the UN to commit to negotiating a treaty that is legally binding and covers the entire life cycle of plastics - from extraction to disposal.
Last week, The representatives at the UN Environmental Assembly 5.2 agreed to a mandate to negotiate a plastic treaty addressing the full life cycle of plastics, from production to disposal.
